American Exceptionalism

                The liberty principle for this Freedom Friday is the simple fact that America is exceptional.  America is not exceptional because of the people who live here; America is exceptional because the Founding Father gave us an exceptional form of government.  They were inspired by God.

                Senator Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska) spoke at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.  Senator Sasse has been described as “one of the Senate’s most conservative voices” since he took office in 2015.  He spoke about our nation being in a time of “constitutional crisis” and of the exceptionalism of America.

                In his speech the Senator made seven great statements, including this one:  “American exceptionalism is not some sort of ethnic claim that because of something we received in the bloodstream, Americans are better than other people.  American exceptionalism is a claim about history.  American exceptionalism is a claim about what happened in the American founding, and if we don’t understand why the American founding was extraordinary you can be sure that our kids won’t understand why America is extraordinary.”
